Simit

Simit (Turkish Bagel) is very cheap, very delish and very Turkish.
You definitely have to try it with a glass of tea.
Less than a dollar.

Oh these look gorgeous (I'm on a low carb diet so they're looking ESPECIALLY good!). I have very many happy memories of holidays in Turkey, and remember that the food was marvellous.

That looks better than a bagel.
What's inside?

You know, after our walk this looks really appetizing. I see some cheese (white? feta?) and peppers (red, green chillies?)- what else can we stuff it with?

Angela, there is feta cheese, tomato slices and pepper.

Isabella, no limit on options. My personel choice is butter and jam or cheddar cheese. But you can put Nutella for example:)Afterall, you deserved it :)

Ming, no, no meat at this one .

Ruth, would you try to bgake it, if you would have the recipe?

Dijah, this one was not hot baby.

Nathalie, ohh yes :)

Monica, yes green peppers and spicy :)

Yummmmy!
My story with Simit is quite funny.. as a kid I'd always travel with a $1 note in my pocket (just in case!).. and on our first day in Turkey (before I even know what Simit was) dad disappeared (as he usually does when let loose in a foreign country) and I had $1, and one mother and one brother.. haha

so I went down from our hotel room and bartered with the Simit salesman to give me as many of those bagel thingies as possible.. I think I managed to get two.. hugely overpriced if I might add, but I wasn't much more than 13 then I think.. hehe it was good fun given my knowledge of turkish was non-existent hehe

btw, Simit is much yummier than bagels!

I'm thinking bagels, too. What kind of tea do you drink with this simit? Me hungry now!

Oya said...

The tea we are drinking is something like English Breakfast Tea. My choice is Earl Grey.
