Nostalgic Tramway

When I start to post photos about Taksim, I realized that almost everything is historical here. First of all, all buildings are over 50 years old, there are plenty of churches, mosques around, same old age...High schools, Mc Donald's is in a historical building. Even transportation....This is the so called nostalgic tramway. It picks you up from the Tunnel and brings you to Taksim Square. More history? Click here.

Madrid lost its tramway a long time ago... And now there are some people who want to re-install it. It would be great but that'll mean more works on streets and nobody wants that!
Cool photo! If you published it on B/W could be a very old one! :)

Nice to see pictures about your historical city and your dog with her pink nose :)
My Golden Retriever has a black nose during summer, but pink in winter and she loves also snow enormously.
nice time to you two!

How exciting! A blog from Istanbul. Must have been added to the daily photoblog since I left?

I lived in Istanbul 1985-88 and loved it. So this is going to be fun!

Thanks for stopping by Flying!

It's cool. I like it's red colour. Mumbai had trams many years ago, but now there are plans of metro railway.

This is very nice street-scape. Nice shot and telling more about co-existence of current life and history. Nice shot!

I'm glad the Istanbul is joined to the DP.

How pretty!! The street and the tram. The buildings remind me of a district in San Francisco where I used to live.

Oya,
Your photos are beautiful. I have just discovered you whilst visiting at Arradon in France.
The tram going to Taksim Square brings back wonderful memories from 1998. I look forward to exploring more of your historic city. Thank you.
