The Big Jump
I know that this is not one of my greatest photos.
I just wanted to show you how crazy Turkish people can be....
The minute the ferry gets close to the dock, the people start jumping off with no fear of them being crashed between the ferry and the dock.
Everyone looks on, like this is normal.
Here, you can see a bunch of them , old and young; gearing up for the big jump....
Wildest thing I've ever seen....

hahaha, sometimes we do crazy things... and get surprised when someone pay attention for that!
Have a nice weekend!
Crazy, scary and pretty dangerous , if you ask me. I guess I'm just not very adventurous.
That does sound crazy. Has anybody ever been crushed? No patience in these Mediteranean countries! In Israel they're always in a rush too, pushing and shoving and there's plenty of time really! :-) Part of the character I suppose. Have a good weekend.
This sounds insane!
Do folks ever get injured? My goodness! Thanks for this insite into a practice there!

Comme c'est bizarre! Are all Turkish men so impatient? ;-)
Mandi and Pat, yes just recently a young woman fall into the water, they saved her. But there is always a new story about that in the news....That is so sad, but people seems not to learn ...
Isabella, yes, very much:))
The Turkish people evidently have a zest for life that compels them to turn a boring ferry ride into an exciting adventure. You gotta admire that!
Nothing boring in Istanbul !!
So much to see. So much to do.
Yesterday a woman for this reason died in İstanbul. Not craziness this is suicide!

That does sound crazy! gosh, if you waited just a couple more seconds, you could have captured a great action shot! This would make for an interesting video i imagine - I like the story behind this photo =)
Emre , you are absolutely right. So sad...
Oya, Look what I found. . . this is a quote from a Istanbul city life column published in 1910.
"Our eagerness to be the first off a boat or indeed any vehicle is so great that we are unable to deter those who jump of the Haydarpasa ferry before it's even landed, no matter how many times we shout, 'The first one of is a donkey'".
Anonymous, why am I not surprised? After almost 100 years, things seems not to be changed:) Would be nice to know your name?
