Therapy at the New Mosque

It feels like a therapy to watch people, feeding pigeons.
This photo was taken today.
The mosque is the New Mosque, in Eminonu, next to the Spice Bazaar
Do not get confused because of it's name, the mosque was completed at 1663.

Oya! You and Kate in Mazatlan have similar themes today. There's something magical about both scenes...

LOL! That's like Pont Neuf (new bridge) in Paris, which is actually the oldest ;-)
Don't show this photo to Olivier - he hates pigeons!

I got a bit confused before reading your caveat! Clicked to enlarge three times to see why is it called a new mosque! Who are those men at the stations outside? Selling bird seeds/tickets?

If this is the new mosque, how old is the old one. Interesting picture Oya.

Isabella, I hates pigeon too and as said to Kate (Mazatlan Mexico = quite same photos) I cannot understand how kids love them. Sigh.

Oya this is a great blog. Every morning I check your site to see what the next picture is. I was born in Istanbul and I still live here. Your photos help me to stand this weird city.

Pigeons everywhere. I'm going to do a pigeon post on Friday 23rd March with links to this and other DP pigeons so see you then.

Age is always relative. I remember when I thought someone in their 40's was really old. So a mosque built in the 1600's could be "new".

I like this photo very much oya! the birds, the lady, and those little stands in red and white... what are they for?

Dad of Four; they are selling bird seeds.

Burcu, thanks for this nice comment. Enjoy:)

Gerald England; can't wait to see your post:)

Dsole, they are selling bird seed. Why they are red&white, I have no clue. Maybe the Turkish flag is red&white, therefore. Or just simply to catch peoples eye...

you know, I could not really appreciate how many pigeons there were until i click on the image to view the larger one - its amazing - they are everywhere - i wonder if this is also a health issue like it sometimes is in certain part of our island with the pigeon population - the city started to ban pigeon feeding in populated areas out of health concerns. great shot!
