That is interesting...Here, I usually only see men getting their shoes shined too. For the repair we have special stores which we all use, although most people are not as interested in repair because they will just throw them away and buy another.
btw, i dunno what u call em, but in arabic we call em iskafi amongts other names which i don't remember.. but i loved these shoe guys.. they do such a goooood job and i'm sure they'd love to polish a lady's shoes, especially if they are good!
Fascinating! And they seem to be doing good business...The shoe shine kit boxes are so elaborate - who would've thought you need all this equipment to shine shoes... What are those flip-flops for?
These men are busy. Funny what kind of cahirs they have. Thank you for leaving your comments at Tuzla DP. It's my last day of posting so come and visit.
Nice shot, it was very common in downtown Madrid too... but there is a while that I don't see those guys (always man too).. I'll look for them next time I'll pass by

Isabella, if the shoes need to be taken off, the customer gets those flips-flops, while he is waiting. Thoughtful ha?
Interesting! Spring is surely coming... when I saw this place shoe-shinners were indoors...
Here was used (especially by railways station) time ago but in South of Italy it is quite used too.

I love the intricate boxes/work tops...
Fascinating. I love the fancy shoe shine boxes and high stools to sit on. How accomodating to give flip flops while waiting.
This is so interesting to see. Never saw anything like this.
