when u look at the larger image, its amazing how blube abd clear the sky is - the mosque looks very complex in design - it would be interesting to see how the inside looks.
Have you heard the phrase 'don't judge a book by it's cover'? The same could be said about architecture. On the outside you see simple shapes, very little color, heavy/massive stone work. Yet once inside, it's like nothing you had imagined. Have you been inside? What is it like? I imagine dark with lot's of candles and plain walls, but I've been happily wrong before. When I was in Paris in 2005 I lost count on the number of churches I visited and was amazed at the grandeur of the interiors, in awe really.
I have been inside, it has lot of tile work and glass work. It is amazing. Mostly ( since people are praying) , cameras are not welcomed. I will try next time...
I've never visited Turkey -- yet. Your pictures are selected so well that you give one a great introduction to your country. I enjoy the wide variety of subjects.
Oya, I am sorry to be so late. I wish to congratulate you on your 100th posting. Your blog has brought back so many good memories of your your beautiful city. I have especially loved your shots of Taksim and all those taken around the water. There is so much to see and remember about Istanbul. I love this mosque photo. Thank you for all the good work you are doing, in showing us Istanbul.

The trees and sky background is so perfect for the Mosque. The group gathered in front is perfect too. Bravo!
The window arches in the mosques is gorgeous. I love the details of it.
My coworker is going to Istanbul this summer. She promised to take a lot of photos.
