of course, the most expensive one

He is there, in front of the Istanbul University every day for 25 years now .

He sells old coins, books, postcards....

Him and his cat, makes a good team I guess...

Hundreds kind of fruits get squeezed and get ready to drink, just in front of your eyes.

Independence Day celebrations continues.

This sandwich salesman celebrates it by wearing a flag t-shirt,

and combining it with an authentic apron and fez.

In other words, he combines old & new....

We celebrate this day every year since our Independence war began at 1919,

which is resulted with the foundation of the Turkish Republic.

All buildings will be covered with flags, like this ....

Boy in the Mosque

If you want to pray, it is a must to wash your hands and feet before you step into the mosque.
Therefore all mosques has this kind of fountains in front of or behind their main building.
Usually comes with the same architectural specifics.
This mosque is in Uskudar, built at the early 1500's....

Prayer Beads ( Tasbeeh )

This shop offers prayer beads only.
They are in all kind of shape and material. Stone, wood, seeds, shells, bones....
It helps to track how many prays have been said in one session.
I like turquoise tasbeehs most...

Mosque in Eyup

This is Eyup Mosque. It is located in Golden Horn.
It is a very popular, old mosque.
People are coming from all around Turkey to pray here.

Street Food

I know, this looks wild....
There is rice and boiled chickpeas, with a touch of pitted chicken :)
And after you eat it, if you get thirsty , you get a glass ( or plastic cup ) of water...
I have never tried this. I guess I was never brave enough :)

An Old Man in Town

He was sitting there, at one of the biggest squares of Istanbul, with his bag next to him.

Most likely, just arrived from a long ride from one of the Anatolian villages

to see his grandchildren.

He is waiting for his son, to pick him up.
